Serve Legal Shortlisted for SME of the Year at the British Data Awards

Serve Legal is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for SME of the Year at the British Data Awards, recognising our continued commitment to innovation, data-led decision-making, and measurable impact across the compliance sector.

For more than 20 years, Serve Legal has operated at the intersection of compliance, customer welfare, and reputational risk. From pioneering national test purchasing programmes in age verification to supporting some of the UK’s largest retail and hospitality brands, our focus has always been on turning frontline activity into meaningful, actionable insight. This shortlisting reflects how that approach has evolved, moving beyond traditional auditing into a data-driven model that helps businesses not only evidence compliance, but actively improve it.

At the heart of this transformation is our proprietary technology platform. Built in-house, it allows us to capture both structured compliance data and the real-world context behind it, and translate that into clear, accessible insight through intuitive dashboards and benchmarking tools. The result is a single, reliable view of performance that enables our clients to understand where risk sits, where standards are being upheld, and where targeted support is needed.

This recognition also comes at a pivotal moment for Serve Legal, as we continue to invest in and enhance our service offering through data and technology. Our focus is on building smarter, more connected solutions that go beyond reporting what has happened, towards helping clients anticipate and manage risk more effectively. From deeper benchmarking capabilities to more seamless integration with client systems, we are committed to ensuring our insight drives real operational change.

A huge part of this progress is down to our Systems and Technology team. Their ongoing work to develop new and innovative services has been instrumental in shaping the way we deliver for clients today. From improving how data is captured and processed to enhancing how insight is visualised and applied, their contribution ensures we remain at the forefront of compliance auditing in an increasingly complex landscape.

While we are incredibly proud to be shortlisted, what matters most is the impact behind the recognition. Our work continues to support businesses in protecting customers, strengthening standards, and demonstrating accountability in highly regulated environments.

We would like to congratulate the other organisations shortlisted alongside us and wish everyone the very best of luck on the night.
